February 7, 2006:

SXSW dates will be up shortly on the shows page.  In the meantime, Jonathan will be playing a short solo set as part of a special show with the one and only Baby Dee and friends the Weird Weeds in Austin:

We've finished the new album, called Palo Santo.  It was produced and recorded by Craig Ross here in Austin, and we're very, very excited about it.  Check the shows page for tour dates (more in the near future).  We'll also be posting more information about the record soon, but in the meantime, here's the track list:

New on the sounds page - a demo version of the song 'palo santo', which will likely appear on the new album.

June 2, 2005:

We have returned safely from the tour, with all limbs attached and with thanks to friends old and new.  We are now starting work on a new full-length - meaning we're going to take a break from shows for most of the summer, but we'll be coming out swinging in the fall/winter. RHTS.

March 20, 2005:

Big news: we're hitting the road again, with The Mountain Goats, in late April and early May.  Check the shows page for the itinerary.

February 20, 2005:

Here's a link to the KUT archive where you'll find our Feb 4th KUT radio appearance.  Everyone except Howard was there, and you can hear host John Aielli describe our group photo in excruciating detail.

Set list:

Song for the Oily Sea
Turn the Transmitters Off
Palo Santo
Whipping Boy
Afraid (Nico)

February 7, 2005:

Thanks to everyone who helped make Saturday's release party a really wonderful event, despite the presence of the riot cops on the street below.  It may have been our favorite show of all time.

Also, we've placed a form on the 'contact' page where you can sign up for our mailing list, to which we send occasional updates.

January 22, 2005:

Hello and a happy new year to all. We're pleased to announce that our new EP, 'Thieves', will be in stores nationwide starting on Feb. 2.  However, it's also available right now for mail-order from the Misra web site.

'Thieves' is a collection of some of our loudest and quietest songs, including some staples of our live show that hadn't made it to record before. It's also probably our favorite release to date. Or just to see casually, now and again.

Here's the track list:

1. I Can't Wait
2. You're the Coliseum
3. Mountain Laurel
4. There's a Mark Where You Were Breathing
5. Near a Garden

For those of you in or near Austin, we'll be celebrating the release of 'Thieves' on February 5th at the Parish with our friends Will Johnson, Amy Annelle, and What Made Milwaukee Famous

Also, I've made a year-end roundup of...well, of bird-related paraphernalia, that veers into autobiography and half-baked book reviews.  Misra wanted us to send in a short year-end top ten, but this one got away from me.  If you're interested, click here.

And lastly, if you'd like to hear a band-sanctioned (or at least not band-rejected) live recording, there's a pretty good recording from the recent tour posted at emusiclive.  It's the 11/13/04 show from Maxwell's, including our 12-minute take on Talk Talk's epic "The Rainbow".  The mix isn't peerless, but you can tell what we're up to.

All the best, and hope to see you soon.   - Jonathan
